(and MEA goes further with that with several characters) You're running on an engineered organic brain. You're not running on cyber memory banks. That's only how far the existentialism goes. TLDR: You're not a robot, you're a person with a growing reminiscent concept of being a robot. Thus how you can express far more curiosity about the Geth and their lives like any people, etc. He's friendly with AI because he went through a traumatic experience that he'll barely acknowledge that causes enough identity issues to help him open up about how other identities (AI) might legitimately exist. Shepard isn't (Paragon) friendly with AI (Legion) because he's a sekret AI that has commonality.

Renegade can reveal the harsh truth (but its STILL Shepard), and Paragon covers it up with newer nicer (also true) sentiments. And he carries a bunch of tech that he and others are often in denial about. He just went through drastic changes in order to return to life. If tech was used to regrow what is a near exact replication of a ME1 Shepard, with the slightest of glitches otherwise, and the tech is no longer necessary to exist in the body (again, other than the danger to extract), then is Shepard really a VI? Or just another (organic) 'Shepard'? And one that is just a carry on from the past?Ī comment here brought up Liara knowing it was really Shepard. Are you really fully (in the futurist) sense a transhuman/non-human if you don't actually need these synthetic parts to operate other than its presence in you? Arguably, you're not. You can grow this integration in ME2's upgrades.

He doesn't actually need any of them to function, but most of it if attempted to remove, would severely damage or kill him. Weird? Well it's that synthetic parts were used to regrow everything, and they remained in Shep afterwards and still did their thing. I think Shepard is a full human that is partially synthetic. And if the idea is a retcon/lore expansion of 'SAM', it still isn't 'SAM' used for Shepard, but only similar tech. However, I disagree that Shepard 2.0 is a VI. You're partially a 'revenant' that is arguably enough of Shepard to be Shepard, but arguably something else that others, even AI(!), accept and even embrace enough that it doesn't matter. You'll get dismissal, but I believe you're basically correct.
